专家简介

Ronald Sroka is the Head of the Laser-Forschungslabor (LFL) (Laser-Research Laboratory) at LIFE-Centre of University Hospital Munich. Since 1986 he is engaged as physicist in research and development of fluorescence diagnosis, Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and laser surgery in nearly all medical disciplines focusing on the translational technical implementation of several laser applications into the clinics. R. Sroka gained experience in project management as principal investigator with several national bi- or multilateral projects, as well as interdisciplinary and translational research projects of clinical relevance. Apart from a long peer-reviewed publication list and patents, he also organized several international and national conferences.

 

讲座简介

Laser technology in urology began with the keen interest of clinically active urologists in using light, and thus lasers, to expand the range of treatments and diagnostics available for urological diseases. As early as the 1970s, various applications in tumour treatments were being investigated using Nd:YAG systems. The scientific curiosity and vision of these pioneers lay in investigating of the interaction of light and tissue, developing laser-compatible endoscopes and optical fibres, and finally in testing clinical laser procedures for urethral strictures, penile carcinomas, tumors of kidney, ureter, urethra, bladder and prostate, benign prostate treatments and stone fragmentation, and even fluorescence diagnostics and photodynamic therapy in the bladder. The presentation brings together these historical urological clinical topics, which still represent the spectrum of developments and applications of light-based procedures in urology today, and shows on whose scientific shoulders new innovative developments continue to be developed today. Sometimes, it has to be considered, that new approaches are not necessarily new, but can be implemented with the current technical possibilities nowadays.
